KPop Demon Hunters brings the stage to UK toy retail

Netflix and The Entertainer bring interactive K-pop photo moments and licensed merchandise to a six-month space at Birmingham's Bullring.

KPop Demon Hunters brings the stage to UK toy retail

HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys have already given KPop Demon Hunters fans two fictional acts to choose between. From October 26, a corner of Birmingham's Bullring will let visitors step into that rivalry, pose for photos and try out character-inspired looks.

In a new partnership with Netflix, UK toy retailer The Entertainer is giving the animated film a dedicated in-store space designed for doing more than picking up merchandise. The setup has an interactive stage, places to pose and character-themed products.

A stage inside the toy store

The 1,331-square-foot shop-in-shop opens October 26 at The Entertainer's Bullring store in Birmingham. It is planned to remain for at least six months, covering the holiday shopping period and extending into 2027.

According to Toys n Playthings, an interactive stage sits at the center of the space, giving fans a place to imagine themselves in a performance. The store will also offer dolls, figures, toys and accessories, alongside scooters and homewares such as duvets, blankets and cushions.

For the opening, The Entertainer's event announcement lists dressing-up demonstrations, glitter tattoos and a 360-degree photo booth. A display featuring a sword from the fictional world adds another recognizable touch. The retailer also says some influencer guests are expected, although their identities were not specified in the announcement.

Why the audience gets to participate

The film's characters are not only recognizable faces. They're performers, with stage outfits, songs and distinct sides that audiences can imagine joining. The Bullring experience borrows from those cues: visitors can try a look, strike a pose or make a memory with friends or family.

That is a close cousin of Toca Boca World's KPop Demon Hunters crossover, which brings four songs and HUNTR/X- and Saja Boys-inspired styling into a game built around players telling their own stories. Both collaborations make participation, rather than just viewing, part of the entertainment property.

The difference is in the setting. In Toca Boca World, a player builds a scene on a screen. In Birmingham, the store becomes a scene that a visitor can physically enter. Neither arrangement alone demonstrates increased sales or stronger long-term engagement, but the experiences show how the same fictional world can be adapted to very different kinds of play.

Retail moves beyond the movie shelf

There is still a straightforward shopping objective: The Entertainer has stocked a wide range of licensed products and says new lines have sometimes sold out within days of reaching shelves. That is a retailer claim rather than independently verified sales data.

But the decision to commit a dedicated 1,331-square-foot space for at least six months suggests a broader ambition. A visit can be an outing even for someone who has not decided what to buy. Families can take photos, explore the display and connect the characters to a real environment before browsing the products.

The retailer's group chief customer officer, Craig Inglis, characterized the partnership as part of a push to turn stores into destinations for shopping and entertainment. The nearby comparisons are not other character toys alone, but any attraction that gives families a reason to spend time together.

For marketers, the test will be what happens after launch. The experience has a recognizable film world, a firm opening date and a substantial physical footprint. Whether it translates into repeat visits or merchandise sales remains to be seen.
