Introducing GripApply: we built something to help you actually use what you read

We publish a lot on ContentGrip. And I know what happens to most of it.

You read something useful, nod along, maybe save the tab for later, and then life happens. The insight never quite makes it into your actual work. That is not a discipline problem. It is just how content consumption works when you are busy and everything is competing for the same 10 minutes of attention.

We wanted to do something about that. So we built GripApply.

What is GripApply?

GripApply is a small widget we embedded at the bottom of every ContentGrip article. You tell it who you are and what you are working on. It reads the article and tells you exactly what to do with it, based on your context.

Not a generic summary. Not a list of highlights that could apply to anyone. A specific, role-relevant output that is useful to you.

The name was deliberate. ContentGrip publishes the content. GripApply helps you apply it.

How GripApply works

Scroll to the bottom of any article and you will find the widget. Here is how it works:

  1. Pick your role. We cover ten options: PR/comms professional, content marketer, SEO specialist, marketing manager, founder/entrepreneur, agency owner, journalist, investor/VC, student, and other. If none of those fit, just describe yourself in your own words.
  2. Tell it what you are trying to do. This is the most important field. "Grow my business" is too vague to be useful. "Sign two B2B fintech clients in Southeast Asia by Q3" gives GripApply something to work with. The more honest and specific you are here, the more useful the output.
  3. Choose your mode. "Actions to take" gives you immediate, execution-ready next steps. "Opportunities to spot" zooms out and looks for strategic angles worth paying attention to.
  4. Get your insights. GripApply returns a relevance rating first, which tells you whether this article is actually high-signal for your goals or just adjacent to them. Then it gives you numbered takeaways for your situation, one specific thing to do this week, and a short reading list to go deeper. We added the relevance rating on purpose. Not every article will be highly relevant to every reader, and we would rather be upfront about that than pad everything to feel useful.

One more thing: your profile saves automatically and carries across all ContentGrip articles. Set it once and it follows you.

Why we built this

We are surrounded by content every single day. Newsletters, reports, LinkedIn threads, articles, podcasts. All of it is potentially useful. Very little of it actually changes how we work.

The gap is not the content itself. The gap is the step between "I found this interesting" and "here is what I am doing differently tomorrow." That step is where most reading dies.

GripApply was built by Tommy Prayoga, Head of Agency at digital PR service provider Content Collision. Tommy is not a software developer. That is actually part of what makes this worth mentioning. The fact that a non-technical person can go from idea to a working, embedded web application in 2026 says something real about where we are. The AI era is not just changing how we consume content. It is changing who gets to build things.

On why he built it, Tommy put it this way: "Most content consumption ends at awareness. People read something, find it genuinely useful, and then the inbox or the next meeting arrives and the insight never becomes action. A feature that shortens that gap in real time is exactly what busy teams need, especially agency teams managing multiple client contexts at once."

GripApply is not a chatbot or a summarizer. It is a translation layer that sits at the end of every article and asks: given who you are and what you are trying to do, what should you actually take from this?
