KFC Singapore Is Hiring a Cat as Its Next Brand Ambassador
KFC Singapore's Meowfluencer Search turns pet fandom into a public vote, merchandise and a year-long cat ambassador role.

In a city where pets are family members, a cat can be more than a cute face on someone's camera roll. KFC Singapore is taking that idea into its marketing calendar by inviting the public to help choose a feline brand ambassador.
The fast-food chain's first Meowfluencer Search began on September 22 and has narrowed the field to three cats. On October 10, visitors to KFC's inaugural Pets Meet at The Star Vista will vote for the winner. The chosen cat is set to hold a 12-month ambassadorship, with opportunities to appear in campaigns, product launches and collaborations.
A cat casting call becomes a community event

Instead of simply putting a pet in an advertisement, KFC is giving cat owners a reason to meet, participate and have a say in the brand's next character. The event outside its The Star Vista outlet will include a pet stamp rally, photobooth and social activities. PetPat, SilverSky and Cosmic Harmony are also involved.
The contest is built around personality, not just appearance. According to KFC Singapore marketing and food innovation director Jaslyn Lam, the brand is looking for a cat comfortable on camera and closely bonded with its owner. That choice gives the eventual ambassador a story and relationship that people can follow beyond the contest.
Chicken-bucket pet beds bring the joke home
KFC is also making its food imagery part of pet life. Its first Pets Club merchandise collection includes a bed shaped like the familiar chicken bucket, a breakfast Twister plushie, chicken-inspired headgear and a collared bib. These are recognizable brand objects repurposed for a different household member.
The products help explain why the campaign goes beyond a cute social post. A pet bed that resembles KFC packaging can live in someone's home long after the event ends, while an ambassador can appear repeatedly across brand content. Neither outcome is guaranteed to drive sales, but both create more opportunities for the brand to be noticed outside a meal occasion.
KFC is building fandom beyond the food menu
Lam told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that the brand wants to fuel fandom and bring Singapore's pet-loving community together. The pet campaign follows KFC's year-long Ranger Buddies collaboration with Mandai X, which adds wildlife-themed play and collectible cards to family dining.
The common thread is participation. Children can collect and play through the Ranger Buddies program; cat owners can nominate their pets and vote for a Meowfluencer. KFC is experimenting with reasons to gather around its brand that do not depend on the latest menu item.
For marketers, the interesting test comes after the October 10 vote. A one-day pet gathering may attract attention, but a year-long ambassador creates a longer window to see whether a community-led idea can sustain interest. KFC has announced that ambition; the campaign's lasting impact remains to be seen.
