Smirnoff pairs Avengers: Doomsday with 1,800 tickets and a secret party
Karan Soni-led ads, 1,800 ticket prizes and a clue-led event reveal give Smirnoff several ways to join Marvel's film countdown.
The countdown to Avengers: Doomsday gives Marvel fans more than a film release to anticipate. The franchise brings together characters from different corners of its universe, leaving room for clues, references and new experiences in the months before opening night. For Smirnoff, the opportunity is to make that waiting period part of a campaign.
The spirits brand has teamed up with Marvel Studios for Assemble Your Night, a film-inspired promotion detailed in an October 28 announcement. It combines short ads starring Karan Soni, themed drinks, a movie-ticket sweepstakes and a yet-to-be-revealed Super House Party. Rather than reveal the final event immediately, the brand says it will scatter clues leading up to the film's December 18 theatrical release.

Karan Soni brings the party onto Marvel sets
Soni, familiar to Marvel audiences from Deadpool & Wolverine, appears in a series of ads that imagine him slipping onto Avengers: Doomsday sets and hosting secret get-togethers. The idea borrows the film's multiverse setting without asking viewers to learn an unrelated advertising storyline.
The spots also feature movie-inspired cocktail names, including Doomsday Delight and Fantastic Fizz. The creative gives Smirnoff a role in the fictional world, but the beverage branding remains attached to an adult social occasion rather than to the film's characters themselves.

Disney's vice president of global marketing partnerships and promotions, Holly Frank, describes the premise simply: "Doomsday is coming, so we might as well throw a party first." The joke places a light-hearted gathering next to an apocalyptic film title, turning a familiar Marvel theme into the campaign's recurring device.
The brand is also tying the promotion to a sweepstakes for eligible US residents aged 21 and older. Prizes include Fandango promotional codes for film tickets and a special-edition cocktail kit. Alcohol is not part of the prizes.
1,800 movie-ticket prizes are offered as Fandango promotional codes in the Smirnoff sweepstakes, according to the brand's October 28 announcement. Eligibility is restricted to legal US residents aged 21 and older.

A mystery event gives fans something to follow
The biggest part of the campaign is also the least fully disclosed. Smirnoff says it will stage a Super House Party inspired by the film, with location and event details to be uncovered through a sequence of hints on its social channels. The company has not yet provided a confirmed venue or date.
That delayed reveal changes the shape of the partnership. A standard film tie-in can peak when the first ad appears, while a clue-led event creates several moments when someone might return to see what has been revealed. Whether that translates into sustained participation is still unknown, since Smirnoff has not published engagement or attendance results.

There is also a historical connection. DesignRush reported that Anthony and Joe Russo directed Smirnoff house-party ads in 2014. The brothers now direct Avengers: Doomsday. That parallel is an interesting creative footnote, although Smirnoff's new announcement does not present the campaign as a direct revival of the earlier films.
Other companies have used Marvel's characters for more tangible fan objects. M&M'S, for example, has paired the franchise with character-themed packs and collectible appeal. Smirnoff's version puts greater emphasis on a future shared occasion and the anticipation surrounding it.
What marketers should know about film fandom tie-ins
A recognizable entertainment property can draw attention, but that does not guarantee people will care about a brand's part in it. The more revealing question is what the partnership gives an audience to do.
- Give the audience a role beyond watching. The clue trail makes the Super House Party something to discover rather than just an event announcement. The mechanism matters more than the scale of the final party, which remains undisclosed.
- Use familiar talent for a specific story purpose. Soni's connection to Deadpool & Wolverine lets the ads enter Marvel's world through a recognizable face. His job in the creative is not merely to endorse a product, but to host the improbable get-together.
- Separate participation from proof of results. Ticket prizes and a social mystery are clear campaign mechanics. Their impact on sales, brand favorability or fan engagement cannot be assessed without results that the company has not disclosed.
The contrast with merchandise-heavy tie-ins is useful. A collectible allows someone to take a piece of a franchise home, while an experiential campaign asks people to imagine being part of its world, even if only for an evening.
For Smirnoff, the test will come when the clues lead to the actual party. Until then, the campaign shows how a brand can turn a movie's promotional countdown into an ongoing story without claiming that the audience has already embraced it.
